Powerboat Guides says:
The Carver 390 Aft Cabin Motor Yacht - “An impressive blend of sharp styling and efficient use of space, the Carver’s well-appointed interior offers the comforts and amenities generally found in a more expensive boat. The two-stateroom teak interior features a roomy main salon with convertible L-shaped sofa to starboard and dry bar with bottle and glass storage to port…”
Upon Boarding…
Normandie can be boarded via gates in the side deck rails, port and starboard, or via the ample fiberglass swim platform, where there is room to ascend the curved, space saving stair to the aft deck, covered in a smart, new vinyl, cushiony snap-in sole covering. Weatherized with Plexi doors to the SeaDek-clad side decks and an all-new canvas and eisenglas enclosure, we find a versatile folding teak table and comfy folding chairs, perfect for al fresco dining. There is a propane Magma grill, fridge, wet bar and cabinets for bottle and glass storage. When venturing forward, of note is the hip high stainless side rails, secure hand rails and a cabin-top upholstered sun pad. Anchor and dock line handling is straightforward, with the handy electric windlass foot controls, new 25Kg Rockna anchor with chain and rode, and three substantial stainless cleats.
Up from the aft deck is a set of molded steps to take you to a very comfortable flybridge, with all new upholstery, SeaDek sole covering and very good visibility for piloting this vessel. A custom, raised helm chair, and comfy seating for crew ensures companionable cruising, protected by the large bimini and new enclosure.
Accommodations
One is struck by the modern, bright feel of the salon, with the all new light weathered teak timber flooring, with contrasting ebony strips, providing a nautical touch. The salon is very large, sporting sliding, screened windows port and starboard, with a settee to starboard and teak cabinets to port. The transition to the galley down is where bottle and glass storage is found behind smoked glass doors. There is a newer flat screen TV to port. Privacy is managed with all new accordion shades, overlapping black out and translucent shades for the right balance of light and visibility.
The completely updated galley is just two steps down from the salon and is also to port. This is a chef’s dream, with all new, state of the art appliances, including a dishwasher, dual voltage full sized refrigerator/freezer, new convection / microwave oven, new electric induction two burner stove, new, extra large stainless steel sink with new custom spigot / sprayer and large pantry. There is good storage, good working counter space, and is open to the salon. To starboard is the dining area which also converts to a sleeping berth.
Aft, a few steps back down, to port, is the entrance to the primary stateroom with the en-suite head, and new electric commode to the starboard side of the vessel. This is where a new Splendide washer - dryer is installed. There is a brand new, custom inner spring and foam mattress, a large hanging locker, a chest of drawers, a large shelved cabinet, and good ambient light. Forward is the guest stateroom, with newer foam mattress, good storage and a hanging locker and storage cabinets. Just aft of the stateroom, and next to the galley is the guest head, with new electric commode and a separate stall shower.
Three zone (staterooms and the salon) reverse cycle heat and air conditioning features digital thermostats and ample capacity for tropical cruising.
