Getting on and off the dock can feel like an art form, but with a vessel designed to simplify that process, with a joystick docking system, it makes everything much more enjoyable. We recently had the pleasure of exploring the Targa 32 and want to share how well thought-out and easy this boat’s docking system is.
Getting on board is a breeze, as the swim platform has gates that allow easy access. The batteries are conveniently located at the entry point, and I can immediately access them. With the ignition switches for the Volvo engines at my fingertips, I watch as the electronics come to life.
Once the power is on, it’s time to handle the shore power. You’ll need to shut off the power to the cord before unplugging it. The Targa 32 is equipped with a shore power cord that’s easy to manage, and disconnecting is easy with smart plugs. There’s even a handy pocket to store the cords, keeping everything neat and organized.
The engines can be powered with the push of a button. I prefer to start from the front and work my way back, and there are plenty of options for boarding—whether through the side gate or the transom, it’s all about what feels right.
The Joystick provides incredible control with clear visibility through the windshields, allowing you to see what’s in front and behind, making it a confidence-boosting area to prepare for departure. With the powerful diesel engines at your command, the boat moves smoothly through the water, and the dual counter-rotating propellers provide remarkable maneuverability, even in tight spaces. Once off the dock, closing the gates and securing everything is easy. With full walk-around access, managing the fenders is effortless.
In just a few minutes, I find myself behind the helm, ready to push the throttles forward and embark on my next adventure.
