Having grown up between Camden, ME and Edgartown, MA, life on the water was always inevitable. Growing up cruising on his families J/35 and J/40, Ben competed in multiple races such as the Figawi, Camden Classics, Marblehead-to-Halifax Ocean Race, building up his extensive passion for sailing and racing. He began his serious commitment to off-shore superyacht sailing as first-mate and engineer after leaving the University of Prince Edward Island. As a USCG Captain Ben has sailed extensively around North America, the Mediterranean, and Caribbean, as well as completing his first Atlantic Crossing at the age of 22.
Benjamin’s experience working on the service/dealership side of the boating industry began when he met his wife Hannah. As he transitioned from a fulltime life on the water to working on sail and powerboat dealerships stretching from Massachusetts to Washington State, he has acquired industry and cruising knowledge in both coasts. Before joining the team at ECYS, Ben had moved back from the Pacific Northwest to work for the Beneteau Group, as the Prestige Yachts and Jeanneau Inboard Aftersales Manager, supporting 30 dealerships daily with service and warranty expertise within the America’s and liaising with the French Headquarters.
Given his international boating knowledge as a sailor, coach, captain, as well as manufacturer’s and dealership’s point of views, he plans on continuing his lifelong commitment to sharing his passion and knowledge through ECYS, in his home state of Maine.
