Welcome aboard Veritas, the 2016 Wesmac NEB Custom 42—a truly remarkable vessel that stands out in the world of Down East boats. This stunning 42-footer is perfect for those seeking a blend of rugged performance and luxurious comfort. Let’s take a tour through its standout features.
Classic Wesmac Design with Modern Features
At the bow of Veritas, you’ll appreciate the unmistakable classic Wesmac 42 design. This boat’s rigid chine hull, combined with its go-anywhere, do-anything versatility, makes it the ideal Down East vessel. The spray rail and aggressive bow enhance its capability, while the 30-inch stainless steel bow rail ensures security as you move forward.
The bow rail extends almost to the back of the house for convenience, making getting around the boat safe and easy. Ventilation is also well thought out, with opening hatches and side port lights.
Side Opening Helm Door—A Game Changer
One of Veritas’ key features is the side opening of the helm door. When docking or approaching a mooring, you can easily step out to drop a line or set the anchor, all within arm’s reach. This practical feature makes navigating and docking stress-free.
Relaxing Outdoor Spaces
The back area provides plenty of space for chairs, tables, and outdoor activities. The sun awning is easily set up for shade, making this space perfect for lounging, social gatherings, or even a day of fishing. With no inboard engine to occupy space, you gain extra room in the bilges for storage.
A Spacious Cockpit with Innovative Storage
The cockpit of Veritas is designed for versatility and socializing. There’s ample room for outdoor activities, and the dinghy storage system is innovative and easy to use. The dinghy is stored out of the way but can be launched single-handedly with a simple release mechanism.
You’ll also notice Shero props, a recent upgrade that has improved handling, efficiency, and cruising speed. The twin Yamaha 300 outboard engines are a rare but powerful addition to a Wesmac 42, delivering excellent performance on the water.
A Light, Bright, and Luxurious Interior
Step inside Veritas, and you’re greeted with the feel of a bright, airy, and beautifully furnished beach house. The custom furnishings and drapes create a casual yet luxurious vibe. To the port side, a cozy love seat converts into a double bed, perfect for lounging or overnight guests.
The starboard side offers incredibly comfortable Ekornes Stressless chairs, ideal for relaxing while taking in the view. A stunning cherry Amish-built dining table is the perfect height for meals, whether you’re using the loveseat or the chairs.
Modern Helm with Advanced Electronics
The helm of Veritas features twin Simrad 12-inch Evo2 displays that provide radar, plotter, depth, and fish finder capabilities. The twin Yamaha controls and progressive bow thruster allow for smooth handling. Additional features include Simrad autopilot, dual Icom VHFs, and a Yamaha display for all critical engine and fuel information.
The side door beside the helm ensures excellent airflow, making docking or anchoring effortless.
Functional and Stylish Galley
The port-side galley is designed with functionality in mind. It features beautiful Corian countertops, stainless steel double-drawer refrigerators, a microwave-convection oven, and a two-burner Kenyon electric range. The cherry woodwork throughout the boat adds a touch of craftsmanship and elegance.
There’s also plenty of storage, with upper cabinets, large lower cabinets, and beautifully crafted cherry drawers.
Spacious Staterooms and Luxurious Heads
Down below, Veritas offers 6’5″ of headroom and a spacious interior. The owner’s stateroom is forward, with a centerline queen bed—an elegant touch not often found on Down East boats. There’s also plenty of storage, drawers and hanging lockers, and excellent ventilation from the port lights and hatches.
The guest stateroom to port is equally comfortable, and an upper bunk can be added if desired. The washer-dryer is also located here, which is a convenient touch for extended trips.
The starboard-side head features a freshwater flush marine toilet, Corian countertops, and a large stall shower, offering the perfect balance of functionality and luxury.
Efficient and Accessible Machinery Space
One of the most impressive aspects of Veritas is the massive machinery space under the saloon. Since twin Yamaha outboards power this Wesmac, no sizeable inboard diesel engine takes up room. Instead, you’ll find ample storage and access to critical systems like the water heater, bilge pumps, fuel and water tanks, and the electrical distribution panel.
The 9kW Northern Lights generator is housed in a sound enclosure for quiet operation, and a 29-gallon diesel tank is dedicated to it.
Performance on the Water
Veritas offers a genuinely exceptional cruising experience. At 9 knots, you’ll enjoy whisper-quiet communication at the helm, thanks to the sound-insulated cabin and rear-positioned engines. Even at 16-17 knots cruising speeds, the ride is smooth and comfortable, with excellent engine trim and running angles.
Whether cruising 6 knots into the harbor or hitting higher speeds, Veritas delivers a quiet, comfortable ride, perfect for long days on the water.
See Veritas for Yourself
The 2016 WesmacNEB Custom 42 is a unique, well-crafted boat that perfectly blends traditional Down East design with modern comforts. If you’re looking for a capable, luxurious vessel, Veritas might be the boat for you.
